Sportneer Sleeping Bag – Wearable & Cotton Fill

Last Modified: 12/04/2023

This Sportneer Sleeping Bag is wearable with zippers for arms and feet, it is very pleasant, with a cotton fill, and incredibly affordable.

Key features & benefits

  • Cotton fill.
  • Wearable.
  • Hooded bag.
  • Great price.

What this ‘wearable’ is about

As far as I know, the first brand that started making mobile or wearable sleeping bags was Sierra Designs. In fact, they have a list of their patented designs of such mobile bags. The basic idea behind this concept is that you can stay in the sleeping bag when you move around in the camp, and you can perform some simple activities while remaining protected from the cold.

So you have something similar but simpler in this Sportneer Sleeping Bag. More precisely, the design includes:

  • two zippers for arms (the picture below), and
  • the feet area has its own separate zipper that you can open independently from the long side zipper and you can walk a bit around.
Zippers for arms.

They describe it as a wearable hoodie, and I would say they are reasonably close. For simple activity in the camp you will be fine staying in the bag. The picture above shows the hood with a cinch cord, and there is a Velcro tab at the end of the main side zipper so this will keep the zipper in place and it will not open during the night when you turn in the bag.

The materials & temperature rating

The shell is a 210T polyester, this is a quite durable and slippery fabric. The inner liner is the same material. The fill is cotton and they write that the bag is machine washable.

Officially, they claim it is rated as 20 F (-7 C), but I do not think they have this independently verified, and have not seen any information about its EN rating. The pictures below show how to roll it and store it in its carry bag. Note that you have compression straps, and this is a great feature that is frequently not available even with bags that cost 5 times more.

Who is it for

Regarding the weight, on Amazon you will see this bag described as “lightweight”. But the reality is it weighs 4.4 lb (2 kg), so it is everything but light. So although they write it is for suitable for hiking and backpacking, better forget this; check some of these compact sleeping bags for backpacking if you need something for the trail.

The packed size is (L x D) 15.7 x 9.5 inches (40 x 24 cm) and this is good but too big for a pack, so you can transport it on a bicycle or on a motorbike. All in all, this is a camping sleeping bag.

The packed size is good.

Regarding seasons & climate, you have already seen its official rating and this would make it a 3-season bag, but my rating below is not completely based on this. On their site they show people sitting by a fireplace in this bag. Well, this is great but you have no fireplace in the camp. Of course, the feeling of cold is individual, but in my view, this bag is not for cold weather. This is why I have included it in my list of best 2 season sleeping bags.

They claim it is weather-resistant, but note that the cotton fill and moisture do not go well together, so you should do your best to keep this bag dry.

Regarding dimensions, there is a mess, they give different numbers on Amazon and on their site. As far as I know it is built in one size so you have 80 x 28 inches (203 x 71 cm). But on Amazon, they show 85 x 33 inches (216 x 84 cm). The bag is not for very tall and big users, it is quite narrow.

Regarding the price, the bag is incredibly affordable, hard to find something that would match its price.

Please see a bit more in this video:

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons

In the summary of this Sportneer Wearable Sleeping Bag review, I would stress that the bag looks great and it indeed includes features that allow you to stay in the bag while doing some simple jobs in the camp. It is best that you test it in controlled conditions before going camping, I would not rely too much on their declared temperature rating.

Here is the summary of my rating, and some pros and cons:
