Marmot Minimalist rain jacket for men is a versatile 2.5 layers completely waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex piece of clothing. It is build of a very durable polyester fabric, suitable for any outdoor activity, and for around-town use. Its design is such that you can use multiple layers under the jacket, which makes it an all-season tool.
Marmot Minimalist jacket for men is a shell-type, which means a durable external fabric and a Gore-Tex Packlite waterproof and breathable membrane. You will notice that the jacket is not of a close-fit athletic design, and you can surely plan to wear some extra layers beneath the shell.
So you can use this jacket in any weather conditions and throughout the year. This is how I myself use my rain jackets.
The jacket features Marmot’s so-called Angel-wing design, which implies a lot of mobility and no restrictions in moving your arms in any direction.
On the front, you have a storm flap with a snap button on the bottom, and a classic full-length zipper that opens from the top to bottom. There are no velcro tabs like in the PreCip model.
The hood is nicely designed and helmet-compatible, with a brim on the front, see the picture. Elastic drawcord adjustments are on both sides of the face. The same type drawcord adjustment with a toggle is on the back of the hood.
On the cuffs, you have velcro tabs for adjustment, no elastic. You will notice the so-called asymmetric design, the cutting is longer on the top of the hand, and shorter on the other side.
Quite long pit zips are available on both sides. On the hem, on both sides, you have drawcords with clips.
You also have a zippered chest pocket, and two zippered side pockets with storm flaps and velcro tabs. The side pockets are really large and nicely designed.
Note that there exists also a version for women from the same series, with the same basic features.
This is GORE-TEX Paclite, lightweight, very durable and packable fabrics. The outside layer is a high-performance polyester, and inside you have the GORE-TEX membrane with a protective layer made from an oil-hating substance and carbon. This is what makes this jacket 2.5-layer.
So you do not have a traditional free-hanging mesh inside, and this makes the jacket so nicely packable and lightweight. You also have special Gore-Seam tape technology, so all seams are 100% waterproof.
Such a construction makes this jacket a perfect tool for various outdoor activities, like hiking and mountaineering, but also for travel and commuting.

Pros & cons
I love jackets with internal mesh, Marmot Minimalist rain jacket does not have it. This definitely does not make it my favorite. Nevertheless, this is a quality piece of clothing though with a really minimalist design, here is my summary of pros and cons:
Marmot Minimalist rain jacket for men is designed in the manner suggested by its name. The price is relatively high, but this is a very durable fabric and membrane. Completely waterproof and very breathable, this jacket is a great choice regardless of your outdoor activity. I can warmly recommend this jacket, a great value for the money.
