This KingCamp Luxury 3D Double Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad review is about a thick and very comfortable long and wide pad large enough for two people. Keep reading.
Key features & benefits
- Self-inflating.
- Thick pad.
- Very long.
- Insulated.
- Storage bag included.
What this is about
I have no idea what they mean by that 3D in the name, every pad is three-dimensional, but this is a self-inflating pad filled with a quality foam, the cross-section below shows what you have inside. This is an open-cell foam which sucks air in when decompressed, and this is behind the words Self-Inflating in the name. You spread the pad, open the valves and it will inflate by itself.
The fabric which you see here is a damp-proof and waterproof, it is tear-resistant and stretchy. Its denier value is 30D so this is moderately durable, more than twice less than in their another KingCamp Double Self Inflating Camping Sleeping Pad. But you have a much stronger 150D Oxford polyester on the bottom side of the pad.
When you want to pack the pad you open the valves and start rolling from the side opposite to the valves. If you did not manage in the first attempt, close the valves to prevent the air from getting in, then start rolling and pressing the pad again. Keep this doing until you see that air is collecting in the unrolled part, then open the valves and finish the job. Close the valves after that.
The pad comes with compression straps and with a storage bag. You have two valves, and one of them is shown below. Both are used for inflation and deflation.
Pads with air inside can leak when pressed, but they claim that each of their pads has been through a 72-hour leakage inspection before shipping. Just in case, they include a patch kit with the pad. This is a well-known brand and I would trust them, but it is best to do such a testing yourself before going for camping, again, just in case.
How about insulation
So they do not provide official data about the R-value, but from what I have seen, this is 4.7. My guess is this is not the new rating system. But in any case, with such a value, you can use this pad in all seasons, but not for extremely low temperatures.
I noticed a nice photo they used in the description of this pad, this is a view of Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Italian Alps. I have been on this exact spot, see my text here, and I doubt that they have carried such a pad to this place.
Who is it for
Regarding the size, the pad measures 79.1 x 50.3 inches (201 x 128 cm), and you realize it is very long. It is formally double-wide but I would describe it moderate in this respect.
The thickness is quite good, you have 3 inches (7.6 cm) of a supportive cushion. This should work well even for side sleepers.
Regarding the seasons, I already mentioned its probable R-value, so you can use this pad throughout the year.
As for the price, it is a bit expensive, but I would say it is worth the investment, this is a very comfortable and pleasant camping bed.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
To conclude this KingCamp Luxury 3D Double Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad review by stressing again that this is a rarely comfortable pad, quite thick and large. The price is steep but if you can afford it, you will have full comfort in the camp. I have included it in my list of best self-inflating camping pads.
Please see how I rate this pad, the same criteria are used for all of them for easy comparison:
