Kelty Kush Queen Air Bed with Battery-Powered Pump

Last Modified: 03/03/2024

The Kelty Kush Queen Air Bed with Battery-Powered Pump is extra thick inflatable lightweight and compact outdoor pad, backpack portable and incredibly affordable.

Key features & benefits

  • Double-wide.
  • Inflatable pad.
  • Extra thick.
  • Pump included.
  • PVC-free.
  • Great price.

What this Kelty Kush Queen air bed with pump is about

This pad is in the group of inflatable outdoor matrasses, and it is one of the thickest on the market. You have no less than 6 inches (15 cm) of air underneath you.

This is a modern construction with coils instead of classic baffles, so bouncing is reduced and this makes it stable so that you are less disturbed when your partner turns around.

The top picture above shows that it comes with a slightly elevated headrest, you can see it on the left. They describe it as an integrated pillow, and this may be good enough for people who sleep on the back, but I am sure for most of users it is necessary to add a real pillow. The overall construction is quite similar to the Sierra Designs 2 Person Queen Camping Air Bed Mattress which is even thicker.

The pump & materials

So you have the pump included, and you definitely need such a tool for a mattress of such dimensions and thickness. You can see in the picture how it looks. The batteries are not included.

This you use with its single dual-use inflating/deflating valve that is shown in the picture below:

There is no insulation here except for the air which provides a bit of it, you can probably have around 0.6 R value, but this is not an exact number of course.

The fabric is polyester, you have a peached fabric on the top and a more durable 150D on the bottom. It is with an abrasion-and-puncture resistant TPU laminated and PVC-free material.

Please see more in this video:

Who is it for

Regarding the size, the pad measures 79 x 55.5 inches (201 x 141 cm) so clearly it is large enough for two adults, it is both wide and long. The thickness of 6 inches (15 cm) make it suitable for any kind of sleepers. This is why it is included in my list of thick sleeping pads for camping.

Regarding the weight, I would describe it as a lightweight pad with its 4 lb 15 oz (2.24 kg). Note that it is lighter than the previously mentioned Sierra Designs 2 Person Queen Camping Air Bed Mattress, but it is almost the same weight as the ALPS Mountaineering Vertex Air Bed Queen Sleeping Pad which has the same features.

The packed size is also very good, it measures (L x D) 16.5 x 12.5 inches (42 x 32 cm). You have a stuff sack included, see how it looks:

This is how the pad looks in its stuff sack.

Regarding best use and seasons, the pad is backpack-portable, but I see it as a camping sleeping pad, or suitable for places where you would not carry it long distances. I have added it to my list of best car camping sleeping pads. There is no insulation, so the pad is for the warmer part of the year.

Regarding the price, this is a very affordable product, and I would add this is typical for Kelty. But with this brand it is never on the account of quality.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons

So this Kelty Kush Queen Air Bed with Battery-Powered Pump is not something spectacularly new on the market, there are many of them with the same features. But in any case, this is a product from a globally-known brand so you know what you are buying.

On the other hand, it is incredibly affordable for a pad of such a size and features. The included pump is an extra bonus.

Please see how I rate this sleeping pad against my usual rating criteria so that you can easily compare with some other products of this type:
