Key features & benefits

  • Instant setup.
  • Freestanding.
  • Multiple windows on all sides.
  • 2 Doors.
  • Stand-up height.

What this is about

If you are familiar with the famous Gazelle Pop-Up Tent, then you should know that here you have a very similar design that works on the same principle. So this is an instant setup construction with the frame permanently attached to the tent.

They use the words Pop Up in the name, but it is more pop-out because when you unfold the tent, you pull the walls out and the tent is ready in a minute or so. You have pull loops from outside, one is shown below. On the opposite side from inside you have hub elements, one is below in the picture on the right. Only the roof you push from inside, and this makes it pop up.

E-cable port, pull out loops and hub elements.

You have a partial coverage fly to attach to the tent, so all in all plan a couple of minutes for the job. One person can do everything easily.

The tent is cabin style with almost vertical walls and this gives lots of shoulder space. Note that the tent is tall, the peak height is 80 inches (203 cm). The lowest areas close to the walls are 70 inches (178 cm) high. So you have stand-up height in the biggest part of the tent.

This is a fully freestanding construction, but as usual, it is important that you stake and secure the tent properly. You have 4 guy ropes that are 5.9 ft (180 cm) long and 8 steel pegs in the package.

The tent could be described as a single-layer type, but this is irrelevant because its walls are all with windows, see the picture below, and all these windows are double-layer with mesh from outside and with zippered panels from inside.

Windows are everywhere.
Windows are everywhere.

So the structure is closable and the picture below shows how it looks when all the panels on the windows are closed:

This is how the tent looks when the windows are zipped up.

The tent has two quite narrow triangular doors that are also with mesh and panels. In the picture below you can see where they are located.

Materials

The fly fabric is a 150D polyester with a 2000 mm waterproof rating. The same rating is on the floor but the fabric is thicker 210D. So these are very durable materials. Note that the floor is sewn-in, so it is not removable as in the mentioned Gazelle Pop-Up Tent.

You have an E-cable port (shown in one of the pictures above), a few pockets are on the walls, and there are also two loops to hang a lantern. The frame is fiberglass, this is an elastic material but it is not very durable.

Ventilation

The ceiling is all mesh, so this is great for air circulation. The same holds for its numerous mesh windows. But in the hours with rain, you have to close all the windows and doors, and in such situations you would want to have floor vents. But there are no such vents here, pity.

Who is this OT QOMOTOP Pop up Tent 4 Person for

Regarding the capacity, it is officially for 4 people. For this you have an area of 61.4 ft² (5.7 m²), and this means 15.3 ft² (1.4 m²) per person.

No doubt it is possible to put 4 pads on the floor, but you would not have any room left. This may be fine for a group of friends at some summer festival, but for camping this is not realistic. You can put one king-size mattress on the floor, and this would make it a perfect tent for a couple. Note that this same brand has some incredibly comfortable camping pads.

Regarding seasons & climate, this is a 3-season tent. It is boxy and tall, so I would not think of using it in windy places. Its waterproof rating is very good and it should protect you from rain and from groundwater.

Regarding the weight, this is a very heavy tent, it weighs 29.9 lb (13.56 kg). This is not surprising with so many poles and hub elements. Besides, fiberglass is certainly not a lightweight material. Note also that the fabric is very durable.

The packed size is far from great, it measures 58 x 9.2 x 8 inches (147 x 23 x 20 cm). So this thing needs lots of space in the car.

Regarding the price, it is fair for such a tent. This changes all the time, but as of the moment of writing this text it was the same as the price of the Gazelle Pop-Up Tent.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons

In summary, this OT QOMOTOP Pop up Tent 4 Person for Camping is nicely built with so many windows and its instant setup. As mentioned, the design is not unique but it looks cool. However, the tent is indeed heavy and bulky, bear this in mind. Other than that, fully recommended. I have included it in my list of best 4 person cabin tents.

Please see how this tent stands against my usual rating criteria:
