Key features & benefits

  • 2 Jackets in one.
  • Insulated.
  • 750-Fill duck down & synthetic insulation.
  • Pit zips for ventilation.
  • GORE-TeX product.
  • Nicely packable.
  • Lightweight.

What this Mammut Convey Jacket is about

What is 3-in-1

The words 3 in 1 describe the fact that you have two fully-features jackets shown in the top picture above. This includes a rain shell jacket and an inner insulated jacket. You can use them separately or combined as one insulated jacket. So this is an incredibly versatile system.

You have what they call the Easy Combine system that includes some snap buttons to attach the inner jacket to the shell. The jackets are built in 3 different color combinations and you can see them in the pictures given here.

The shell jacket

This is a hardshell fully waterproof and breathable 2.5-layer structure with a huge waterproof rating. This is achieved due to a GORE-TEX membrane. You have an adjustable hood (two adjustability points on the sides), and its shape is shown in these pictures:

The shell jacket is with a splashproof front zipper and 2 side zipper pockets. You also have long underarm zippers for additional ventilation when you are in some highly aerobic activities, see the picture below.

The cuffs are with Velcro tabs and you also have an adjustable hem. This allows for dial in fit and also to prevent cold drafts. See how this looks:

The fit is regular and the length is hip length. The jacket is true to its size. Here are some numbers you would want to see:

  • Water column: 28000 mm. I can tell you this is an incredibly high value, you will hardly find something to match this.
  • Vapor permeability: RET<9 m² Pa/W. This puts it in the range of very breathable fabrics.
  • Denier value: 50D.
  • Face fabric: polyester.
  • Membrane: GORE-TeX 100% polytetrafluorethylene.

Inner jacket

So here you have an incredibly soft and pleasant, lightweight and wind- and water-repellent Pertex Quantum material. They claim it is made from recycled yarn, it is PFC-free with a DWR treatment. As mentioned, you have 3 different options for the color. The jacket has two hand-pockets and one inner pocket.

This is a full-featured jacket that can be used on its own. Perhaps the best part is its insulation. So you have a hybrid structure with a 750-fill duck down on the main body of the jacket, and 80 g synthetic insulation on the sleeves. The down is here to improve packability and to reduce the weight, so this is a clever design.

The cuffs are with elastic and the same design is on the hem. Here are some parameters you might want to see:

  • Fill:
    – 90% white duck down, 10% white duck feather; 750 fill power. The jacket comes with an RDS certificate.
    – Sleeves: 100% polyester.
  • Lining:
    – 100% polyamide.
    – 100% polyester.

All the materials in both jackets also come with a BlueSign certificate.

Who is it for

After seeing all its essential features, you realize that this is a piece that can be used all-year-around. Both jackets can be used combined in winter and they can be used separately in other seasons, for chilly weather and as a rain jacket in all seasons.

The style is such that you can use it in daily life as well as an outdoor item, and this holds for its both elements separately or together. It is nicely packable and totally waterproof so you know you will be fully protected no matter where you use it.

See a bit more in this short video, they have the same jacket for men as well:
