Key features & benefits

  • Synthetic insulation.
  • Machine washable.
  • No-snag patented zipper design.
  • Incredible price.

What this is about

This is a simple construction, a rectangular sleeping bag without hood, with one continuous zipper and you can open it completely and use as a blanket. You can also zip this bag together with yet another bag of this type and have a double-size bag for you and your partner.

Materials

This is a synthetic bag, so the shell is a polyester and the liner is a tricot fiber blend, they claim it is soft but in fact many people have complained that it is a bit rough. The fill is synthetic which they call the ThermoTech insulation, and you have it 3 pounds (1.36 kg) in total. Such materials are best suited for wet and damp conditions. They are easy to maintain because you can wash them in a washing machine.

The bag is simple but not without features. There is a baffle that they call the ThermoLock, that prevents heat loss through the zipper. You also have a Roll Control feature shown below that locks the bag in place for easier rolling.

Roll Control and Quick Cord.

This is not all, there is also what they call the ZipPlow, see the picture below, a zipper guide piece that allows for smooth zipper operation, it plows fabric away from the zipper to prevent snags.

Temperature rating

Officially, this bag is with the temperature rating 40 F (4 C). In my view this is a bit too optimistic, the bag has no hood and the inner volume is relatively large and thermally inefficient. I think its name describes it best, this is a bag for warm weather, maximum for 2 seasons, say for summer, late spring, and early autumn.

Who is it for

Regarding the dimensions, the bag measures 75 x 33 inches (191 x 84 cm), so this is not a big bag. They claim it is suitable for people up to 5 feet 11 inches (180 cm). So if you are a tall person, it is best to check their Coleman Big and Tall Sleeping Bags that is built in the same style.

Regarding the weight, the bag is heavy to be carried in the pack. It weighs 4.3 lb (1.95 kg). So if you need something for the trail please check this list with best down sleeping bags for backpacking. I have included it in my list of car camping sleeping bags.

But the packed size 16.3 x 10.39 x 8.50 inches (41 x 26 x 22 cm) is such that you can easily transport it even on a bicycle or on a motorbike.

Regarding seasons & climate, you have already seen its temperature rating, but as always it is best to test it in controlled conditions and then you will know. I see it as a summer camping bag and not much more.

Regarding the price, it is hard to find a bag that would match it. So this is an incredibly affordable sleeping bag.
