What this is about
So here you have a very typical rectangular sleeping bag with incredibly pleasant materials. The shell is a 6-oz rugged cotton canvas and they make it in the dark brown color. The inner liner is a very soft 100% cotton flannel. Because of these features I have included it in my list of best cotton canvas camping bags.
The insulation is what they call PolyLoft insulation, so this is a synthetic fiber that performs well in any climate, even in wet and damp conditions. But in view of the shell material, you would want to keep this bag as dry as possible.
They apply a 2-layer offset construction, this means that there are no cold spots. If you are not familiar with this terminology, here is what this means.
There are two insulation layers inside, and the outer layer is then stitched to the mentioned shell cotton canvas. The second layer is stitched to the inner flannel liner. In addition, the stitching is not above each other, in other words, it is offset. Such a design minimizes chances for cold spots, and this is typically used in quality bags designed for cold weather.
As you realize from the picture above, the stitching goes width-wise, so this indicates that you have a sort of continuous baffles that wrap around the bag.
They use #8 separating zippers with a baffle cover to prevent cold drafts. But note that there is no hood here. They offer two sleeping bags with different temperature ratings of -20 F (-29 C) and 0 F (-18 C).
Who is it for
Regarding the best use & climate, you have seen its two temperature ratings, so one of them is for all seasons and the other is a great 3-season option.
Regarding the size, you have 78 x 33 inches (198 x 84 cm), so the bag is wide and it is definitely long enough for me, but bear the length in mind if you are a very tall person.
Regarding the weight, this is a heavy sleeping bag, but such a weight is quite typical for this type and for the materials used. It is built for car camping so I do not think that the weight is of importance.
The packed size is more of a concern, it is quite bulky as you see in the specifications below. Note that it has integrated straps to keep it rolled for transportation.
Regarding the price, it is incredibly affordable for such a great product. But this is not surprising for this brand, it is known for such an excellent price/quality combinations.
