Here I compare Big Agness Copper Spur HV2 Expedition Tent vs Eureka Mountain Pass 2, both built in the same style. My conclusion is that the Eureka Tent is better. What do you think?
Why this comparison
These two tents, the Big Agness Copper Spur HV2 Expedition and Eureka Mountain Pass 2 tent are both new on the market. Those are the top quality tents and both with a convertible design. The meaning of this term is that they can be used in any season and also in any climate.
So you have incredibly versatile tools, though this versatility also implies that they are not the lightest options to carry on the trail, though they are not very heavy. But with such a design you will not heavy unpleasant surprises regardless of the weather conditions.
Here are a few basic features which you might want to see in order to understand my rating farther below. Note that they are described in detail in my separate reviews, so please follow the links for more:

My rating for the two tents
Based on the parameters shown in the table above, and on full reviews which you can also read if you follow the links above, here I give my “rating” of the two tents. Clearly, the Eureka tent has received far more pluses:
Weight
Area
Peak height
Footprint
Fly rating
Vents
Poles
Floor rating
Storage elements
Price
Big Agnes Copper
Spur HV2 Expedition
Eureka
Mountain Pass 2
Here are a few reasons for giving those pluses and minuses.
The weight
There is a small difference in the weight, however, the Eureka’s tent weight includes the footprint, so it is a clear winner here.
The area
Here again, the difference is not big, but indeed, the Eureka tent gives a bit more space.
The peak height
You have 5 cm more in the Eureka tent, not a big deal really but it has an advantage here as well.
The footprint
The Eureka tent comes with the footprint included, and you will see the price as well. So no comment is needed here.
The fly rating
You have 1200 mm with the silicone coating in the Big Agnes tent and 1800 mm with the PU coating in the Eureka tent. None of them has an impressive rating, but you probably do not need more. The fact is that Eureka’s rating value is bigger.
Vents
The BA tent has one vent and Eureka tent has two. Clear winner.
The poles
The Big Agnes tent has 9.6 mm DAC Featherlite NSL poles, and the Eureka has 9.5 mm Osung. So here I give a small advantage to Big Agnes.
Floor rating
The Big Agnes tent is with 10000 mm while the Eureka tent is 3000 mm. The more the better, so the winner is clear.
Storage elements
The Big Agnes tent has twice as many storage pockets as the Eureka tent.
The price
As of the moment of writing this text, the BA tent is $500 and the Eureka tent is $300 and this includes the footprint as well. Clear winner.
Final thoughts
I guess if you like the Big Agnes brand more than Eureka, and if you like their tent more, then no argument will change your mind. This is fine, we all have our preferences. Both tents are great and regardless of which you choose you will have a reliable item.
But there is a big difference in the prices and it is good to make such a comparison to understand what might be behind the price. Sometimes such items are overpriced without reason. We, as consumers, are all in the same position and we pay the price which is not always justified.
