Instant Setup Naturehike Village 13 Tent with a Full Coverage Fly

Last Modified: 03/04/2024

The Naturehike Village 13 Tent is an excellent cabin type two-layer instant tent with a full coverage fly, nicely ventilated, lighted, and with multiple awning configurations with its three included awning poles.

Key features & benefits

  • Cabin type.
  • Full coverage fly.
  • Instant setup.
  • 2 Rooms.
  • 2 Doors.
  • 4 Windows.
  • Awning with 3 included poles.
  • Ventilated.
  • Integrated ambient light.
  • Cable port.

What this is about and what is in the name

This Naturehike Village 13 can be described as a true double-layer cabin-style shelter. So here you have an inner taffeta tent plus a full-coverage fly.

Cabin type tents with a full fly are not so frequent, and if you are not familiar with this, it is good to know that such a combination of features implies an ultimate comfort and protection.

So you have straight and steep walls that create lots of volume inside, note that the peak height is 72 inches (183 cm).

The tent is formally a 2-room structure due to the fact that it comes with a removable divider. Below you can see how it looks inside when the divider is open, it has a vertical zipper in the middle.

Instant setup

On the Naturehike site they have this tent under the name Village 13-Roof Automatic Tent. It is far from clear what the number 13 means (more below), but the word “automatic” here indicates the fact that this is an instant setup tent.

This means that the frame is pre-attached, all you see in the picture below is one piece, so it is very easy to set this tent up.

This is the tent shown without the fly.

All you have to do is to unfold the package and extend telescopic legs. After that you put the fly on and secure the tent to the ground.

This clever construction includes three hub elements on the roof, one in the center (shown in the picture below on the left), and two on the sides (one shown below right). The picture on the left also shows cables from the integrated light (more below).

Windows and doors

This is one of the best sides of the tent. Each of the mentioned two rooms has its own door and two separate windows. All four windows (not 5 as stated on Amazon) are double-layer type, with a fixed mesh and zippered panels. Note that those panels can be open to any position in the given range, so you can regulate privacy and views.

Observe that the two windows on the narrow sides of the tent are with what is usually described as storm panels. This means  you can stake them out and keep open even when it rains. This is shown in the pictures.

The two doors are are also full-size double layer, with a zippered mesh and a zippered panel. This means that you again have a full control regarding privacy, views, and air circulation.

Integrated awning

On both longer sides of the tent, the fly is with zippered panels deigned to create an awning. For this purpose they have provided no less than three awning poles shown in the picture below. There are no many tents on the market that come with such a luxury.

With this you can extend your living area and sit in the shade. Because of the symmetric structure, you can create an awning on either side of the tent. This may be convenient regarding privacy, the position of the sun, and wind direction.

Multiple fly configurations

There is more to this awning setup. From the pictures below you can see how you can create it with three and also with two poles. The last picture shows the tent when it is fully closed.

With the awning created on one side, you still have the rear side with its fly flaps which you can roll up and fix above the windows. This is shown in the picture below.

Integrated light

If you think you have seen all the features, wait for this; the tent comes with an integrated ambient LED light system. Below you can see how it works:

Inside the tent you have a wall pouch for a switch, it is shown in the picture below. But if you want more light, there are lantern hanging hooks and rings visible in the picture above.

Materials

All the elements in the package are shown in the picture below. Observe the mentioned awning poles that are included. The frame is wrapped together with the inner tent of course. Note, there are 13 ropes here.

The frame: All metal parts here are made of iron. On Amazon you will find a wrong statement that this is aluminum.

There are 6 telescopic legs poles plus several roof bars, all interconnected and attached to the tent. The 31 pegs shown in the picture are also steel.

The fabric: You have a very durable 210D encrypted polyester Oxford used for the fly. It is with a silver coating which they added for UV protection. There is also a PU coating and they claim it is with a 2000 mm waterproof rating.

The floor is even stronger 300D polyester Oxford with a 3000 mm PU waterproof rating. The inner tent is a breathable polyester taffeta.

Ventilation

Ventilation here is very good, almost perfect, but there is one detail missing. You can seen the ceiling which is all mesh, plus four large mesh windows and two large D-shaped mesh doors.

So you can have as much cross flow as you wish. When you keep all the windows and doors closed, they have added two floor vents, one is visible in the picture below. They are with zippered inner panels and with fixed mesh.

Various configurations with the fly shown previously allow for various venting options depending on the weather and wind situation.

But they have missed adding roof vents. That massive fly, when closed, needs such vents to cope with condensation. The mentioned storm flaps on the side windows may help if you keep them open because they are positioned high.

Who is this Naturehike Village 13 tent for

Regarding the best use & climate, they describe it as a 3-season tent and this is true. It has all the features for such a use.

They write it is “engineered to withstand slightly more challenging conditions, making it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts who seek adventures off the beaten path.”

This is an accurate description. You have its full fly with a high waterproof rating for protection. All the doors and windows are closable if you feel cold, and the tent is ventilated for situations when you feel warm.

Regarding the size, they write about 13 square meters, and perhaps this explains the letter 13 in the official name of this tent. The same wrong statement is on their site and on Amazon as well, so disappointing to see.

This statement is on various sites but it must be wrong. The floor plan and the dimensions below tell you that you have around 115.2 ft² (10.7 m²).

Some dimensions and floor plan.
Some dimensions and floor plan.

So in the case of four users this would mean 28.8 ft² (2.66 m²) per person, and this is a truly generous space.

You realize from the floor plan and the dimensions above that you can sleep width-wise, different from what they suggest, and in this case there is enough place for 6 sleeping pads.

So although the information about the area which they provide is clearly wrong, this tent can accommodate more people than what its official capacity suggests.

Regarding the weight, be ready for it, this thing is heavy. It weighs 48.5 lb (22 kg). So this is for places close to your car. The weight is due to its strong frame and thick fabric. Note that instant frames of this type have some overlapping parts in the tubes, and this adds weight.

Regarding the packed size, it can be described as bulky, so again, make sure you have enough space in the car. Note that the bag is quite long. This is again due to its instant setup design.

Regarding the price, as of the moment if writing this text, the tent is expensive, and with all the good reasons I would say.

So if you are on a budget, perhaps you should check some other option, you have them many here in the site. But this is a quality and luxurious shelter, worth the investment.

Final thoughts & rating

In conclusion, the Naturehike Village 13 Tent emerges as a top-tier shelter with a plethora of features that cater to both comfort and functionality. Its unique design as a double-layer cabin-style tent, coupled with a full-coverage fly, sets it apart in the market.

The tent’s instant setup capability, aptly described as “automatic” on the Naturehike site, makes pitching camp a breeze. The convenience of unfolding the package, extending telescopic legs, and securing the fly simplifies the camping process, allowing users to focus more on the outdoor experience.

The thoughtful design continues with the inclusion of multiple doors, windows, and an integrated ambient LED light system, elevating the overall camping experience.

The tent’s dual-room configuration, complete with a removable divider, adds versatility for users seeking privacy or separate living spaces.

Notably, the tent’s ventilation system, despite its commendable cross-flow design, lacks roof vents, which could be a consideration in certain weather conditions.

While the tent is marketed as a 4-person capacity, the provided floor plan and dimensions reveal a more spacious interior, accommodating six sleeping pads comfortably. However, potential buyers should be aware of the tent’s considerable weight and bulky packed size, making it more suitable for car camping adventures.

The tent’s higher price point is justified by its quality construction, luxurious features, and suitability for three-season use, making it a worthwhile investment for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a premium camping experience.

In summary, the Naturehike Village 13 Tent stands as a reliable and well-designed shelter for those who prioritize comfort, convenience, and durability in their camping gear. I have included it in my lists of best 4-person cabin tents and best 4 person tent for car camping.

Below you can see how I rate it against my usual rating criteria so that you can easily compare it with other items of this type:
