Key features & benefits

What is in the name
So here you have what they call the Camp Chef Deluxe Outdoor Oven, a modified version of their celebrated Outdoor Oven. This is a very convenient item for outdoor cooking with a great size range that includes two burners, plus a full-size oven. The pictures show its convenient carry handles on both sides.
The top picture above shows it with the closed lid that doubles as a huge windscreen. It is shown below with the lid open, and the oven is placed on their Camp Chef Sherpa camping table.
As you realize, the lid has two elements on the side, and they fold in when you close the lid. The picture below shows how you attach them to the stove’s body:
The table which you see in the pictures is with a roll-type aluminum tabletop, but the oven does not heat the tabletop in any case, it is well insulated so you can use it on any table that can support its 32 lb (14.5 kg) of weight plus the pots and food in them.
Camp Chef Deluxe Outdoor Oven vs Camp Chef Outdoor Oven (standard) – what is the difference
From what I see the only important difference is the range burners output. You have 9000 BTU/h each in the Deluxe and 7500 BTU/h each in the Camp Chef Outdoor Oven (Standard version). The dimensions are exactly the same.
Note that the Deluxe is called Covend model by the manufacturer, while the Outdoor Oven (or standard version) is called Coven model.
The easiest way to recognize which is which are the knobs on the front, they are red in the Deluxe version. So you will see a number of videos around presenting the Standard (Coven) version yet the authors describe it as the Deluxe (Covend) oven.
Camp Chef Deluxe Outdoor Oven vs Camp Chef Professional Outdoor Oven
So yes, they also have what they call Camp Chef Professional Outdoor Oven. The main differences are:
- Professional Oven heat output 5000 BTU/h as compared to 3000 in the Deluxe version.
- Professional Oven dimensions are:
– Main body (L x W x H): 12.5 x 21 x 20 in (31.7 x 53.3 x 50.8 cm).
– Dimensions with handles (L x W x H): 15 x 25 x 20 in (36 x 63.5 x 50.8 cm). - Deluxe Oven dimensions are:
– Main body dimensions (L x W x H): 12.5 x 21 x 18 in (31.7 x 53.3 x 45.7 cm).
– Dimensions with handles (L x W x H): 15 x 25 x 18 in (38 x 63.5 x 45.7 cm). - They call the Professional version Covent model, as compared to Covend used for the Deluxe version.
Here they are all three side by side so you can compare:
The oven structure
The oven is with the inner dimensions (L x W x H) 11 x 16 x 9 inches (28 x 40.6 x 23 cm), so this is around 26 liters volume. Its power is 3000 BTU/h and you can regulate the temperature in the range 250 – 400° F (121 – 204 C). You have two removable racks inside, visible in the picture below.
They claim that a 1-lb propane bottle can hold a temperature of 350º F (177 C) for up to 7 hours. If you have a 13 x 9 (33 x 23 cm) inches pan, it will fit inside easily. See below how it looks, I can almost feel the smell.
Dual top burners
You have a large range with the dimensions 17 x 9.5 inches (43.2 x 24 cm) and two brass burners with 9000 BTU/h each. The red buttons visible in the pictures allow for an easy burn control and the stove comes with a matchless ignition system.
You also have enamel stovetop cooking grates while the stove’s body is a steel construction with dark gray powder coat. The stove is powered by a disposable 1-lb propane bottle, and it is adaptable for a bulk tank with the bulk tank hose adapter.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
To summarize this Camp Chef Deluxe Outdoor Oven review, what you have here is one of the best items of this type on the market. It has been around for some time already so everything is known about this oven, it has been tried and tested by many campers.
It is suitable for camping, emergency situations, tailgating, and you name it. The design is based on its famous oven-cousin mentioned above, so this is top-level craftsmanship, fully recommended. I have included it in my list of best 2-burner camping stoves and also in the list of best camping outdoor ovens.
Note that it comes without a carry bag, but it can be ordered separately. The good side of buying a product from such a brand is that they have numerous useful accessories that you need in a camp kitchen. They are specialized in such items, you can see them here. See how I rate this camp oven:
