The OneTigris Cometa Camping Tent is a true 2-layer 2-person tunnel-type tent for all seasons, with a high waterproof rating and an impressive length that makes it suitable for very tall users. My overall rating of this tent is very high, but not everything is perfect in this tent.
Key features & benefits
- Two-layer two-person tent.
- Suitable for all seasons.
- Full-coverage fly.
- Vestibule.
- Awning configuration.
- Two doors.
- Ultra compact.
- Lightweight for its size.
- Reasonable price.
What this is about
This OneTigris Cometa can be described as a true tunnel-type tent, so it is not freestanding and it must be staked down properly. This is why it is important to use it on a ground that keeps stakes, so avoid sand and gravel, and a frozen ground as well.
The tent has a completely unique design and you will realize this from the description here. It has two doors, and I am stressing this more as a fact than as a great feature or necessity.
Namely, one huge door is on the long side of the tent and this is perfectly enough. But you have yet another door on one of its narrow sides. This extra door is not really necessary, it is narrow, and I doubt that many people will use it.
But both doors are two-layer type, so you have a zippered mesh plus a zippered panel. The picture below shows view inside through the mentioned narrow door; the main door is closed on the left side.
The tent itself is a two-layer structure, with an inner taffeta tent with its own two-layer doors, plus a full coverage fly. The removable inner tent attaches to the shell with buckles, see the picture.
Note that the fly creates a vestibule on the long side of the tent, and this is one of the unique features of this tent. The dashed line in the picture below shows the position of the inner tent, and the vestibule is on the bottom part.
The depth of the vestibule is given in the picture below. As you see, you have 73 cm on its widest part, and the vestibule extends along the whole length of the tent.
Observe also that the tent is quite low profile, so you do not have a standing height here.
Awning configuration
The vestibule flap allows for an awning setup as shown in the picture below. Note that the poles are not included, but you can use a pair of trekking poles for this purpose.
With this you have an extra space to sit and cook in the shade whenever the sky is clear and it is not too windy.
Materials
The poles & stakes: This is a very simple configuration, so there are only two shock corded identical 7001 aluminum alloy poles, nothing to guess, easy to use.
The poles attach to the base through grommets that are on straps that go under the tent. On the canopy you have long sleeves. There are plenty of stakes and ropes to secure the tent to the ground, see the picture.
The fabric: There is a bit of a mess regarding the fabric specifications. But the fly can be described as moderately durable silicone-coated 40D nylon or silnylon. The waterproof rating is 3000 mm, and all seams are taped.
The floor appears to be a 150D Oxford polyester and I am not sure about its rating, most likely it is the same as the fly. From what I can find around, there are no complaints about leaking of the tent in general.
The inner tent canopy is apparently the same denier value 40D but breathable nylon, this information is on the site of the brand. However, on Amazon you will see 20D nylon mentioned, so I am not really sure if this is about different versions of the tent or just a mistake as usual.
The mesh areas on the two doors are a 20D nylon (according to the brand’s site), but on Amazon you will see 40D nylon mesh mentioned. Note that you have quality YKK zippers here.
Ventilation
The inner tent is a full taffeta, so here the mesh layers on the two doors play a crucial role. I mentioned the door on the narrow side, so it is more useful for ventilation than as a door.
With so much mesh on the two doors you will be able to create enough air cross flow even when the fly flaps are fully closed. In fact, they must be closed whenever it rains.
But I was really unpleasantly surprised realizing that there are no vents on the fly. It is incredible that they assumed that such vents are not needed. This is my huge objection to the design of this tent. With a closed awning, as it must be when it rains, vapor cannot escape and this tent will always develop condensation on the underside of the fly.
One wonders how is possible to make such a mistake. Their OneTigris Stella Tent is a bit better from that aspect.
Who is this OneTigris Cometa for
Regarding the best use & climate, I already mentioned its two-layer construction, and you have also seen its huge waterproof rating. You can regulate its ventilation with its mesh doors, so this all makes it suitable for all seasons. But remember the lack of fly vents, the weather in the camp is not always great.
Bear in mind also the fabric, nylon stretches when wet, and this means you have to adjust its ropes from time to time. This may be annoying. What is even worse here is the fact that the ropes do not attach to the top of the loops, so you cannot really stretch the roof completely.
Hence, you will have pooling on the roof. It is a pity they did not think about this issue.
Regarding the size, they do not provide the actual area but the tent is officially for two people. Now, from the numbers shown below, my estimate is that the floored space is around 58.1 ft² (5.4 m²).
The vestibule adds around 23.7 ft² (2.2 m²) for gear. So this is a lot of space for two users.
Observe the incredible length of this tent, no less than 13.8 ft (420 cm). Many two-person tents of this type are quite short, so if you need a shelter for tall users, this is it. You have plenty of space in the inner tent for storage as well.
The width of the inner area is also very generous, you have 55.9 inches (142 cm) in the central area, and this is good enough even for very wide pads.
Regarding the weight, with its 8.8 lb (4 kg) you would not want to carry this tent long distances. But observe its huge protected area, and from this perspective the tent is very light, this you can see in my rating below.
Regarding the packed size, in view of its overall size, the tent is indeed ultra compact when packed, see the carry bag below. You can transport it even on a bicycle and on a motorbike.
Regarding the price, it is more than fair for a true 4-season tent which you have here, please check the links below for updates.

Final thoughts & rating
In conclusion, the OneTigris Cometa Camping Tent offers an impressive combination of features, including a true 2-layer, 2-person design suitable for all seasons, high waterproof rating, and a spacious layout.
Its unique tunnel-type structure, dual doors, and awning configuration contribute to its versatility and user-friendly design. However, certain drawbacks, such as the absence of roof vents leading to potential condensation issues during rain and the oversight in addressing rain pooling on the sagging roof, are significant considerations.
Despite these limitations, the tent provides ample space, excellent compactness for its size, and reliable protection at a reasonable price. Prospective buyers should carefully weigh the tent’s advantages against its shortcomings to determine if it aligns with their specific camping needs and preferences.
In terms of performance, the OneTigris Cometa Camping Tent earns a commendable overall rating. Its strengths lie in providing a spacious area, compactness, full protection, and versatility for all seasons.
Ultimately, the OneTigris Cometa stands out as a solid option, especially for those seeking a well-priced, 4-season tent with a unique design, but careful consideration of its limitations is essential for a satisfying camping experience.
