Last Modified: 11/30/2023

Monte Confinale

Climbing Monte Confinale was my plan when I saw it for the first time from my tours around the Gavia Pass. So I did it recently and here is my report.

Vrsic Pass (Vršič Pass) – Russian Road in Slovenian Alps

Last Modified: 11/30/2023

Vrsic Pass

The Vrsic Pass is written in original Slovenian as Vršič, in Italian as Passo della Moistrocca, and in German as Werschetzpas. With its 1611 meters of elevation (5285 ft) it may not look so high in comparison with other great passes in the Alps like the Stelvio or Gavia passes, but it is very attractive.

Climbing Cima Solda – Suldenspitze – Italian Alps

Climbing Cima Solda - Suldenspitze

Climbing Cima Solda was my plan B for the day. The initial idea was to get to Monte Cevedale. But the visibility was close to nothing and the long walk across the glacier full of crevasses and without knowing the route was not an option, so the plan B was all that was left.

Zavetište pod Špičkom hut - Slovenian Alps

Zavetište pod Špičkom hut (2064 m), Hutte Unter dem Spitzchen, is a remote place located directly under Jalovec, and this is the best starting point for the climb of the mountain.

Kreuzspitze

Kreuzspitze (3457) is the highest peak in the ridge which is more than 10 kilometers long and which starts at the village Vent in Otzal Alps. The ridge extends all the way to the Similaun hut area, at the Austrian-Italian border.
