I have been mountaineering in the Livigno area since 2014. Most people know this region for winter sports but my time there has been spent in summer. Hence the book.

Livigno lies at 1816 meters (5958 ft), and it is higher than Zermatt in Switzerland. But the surrounding peaks here are gentle and they can be reached simply by walking. Because of the high ground of the town itself, elevation gains are moderate, usually up to 1200 meters.
All of the peaks can be climbed as day tours. On many walks you pass beautiful lakes and ridges along the Swiss-Italian border.
This book provides first-hand data for eight major peaks. I include practical and clear information on parking, start points, timings, terrain, what matters, what does not. There is no guesswork here. I describe only the routes I have walked myself.
There is no copy-paste here, no guessing. This is not a coffee-table book, it is a practical guide for people who actually go to the mountains.
You will find details for:
- Cima Piazzi (3439 m): The highest and hardest peak in the book.
- Monte Breva (3104 m): A beautiful summit on the border.
- Pizzo Paradisino (3302 m): A long, attractive route near the Campo glacier.
- Other 3000m summits: Including Monte Vago, Pizzo Cassana, Piz Cotschen, Pizzo Filone, and Pizzo Orsera.
I also include a section on several free hiking shelters in the area, with a map and photos. These bivouacs are always open, fully equipped, and free to use by anybody. If you spend time in the Alps, you know how important this is.
I have made many mistakes on these trails so you do not have to. If you want to explore the high Alps without technical gear and on your own, this guide is for you.
Who this book is for:
- Hikers moving toward 3000m peaks.
- Mountaineers who prefer simple, logical routes.
- People who want clear information, not noise.
- Anyone spending summer time in Livigno, a special duty-free town.
