Description

Kelty transit 3.0.
Kelty transit 3.0.

Kelty Transit 3.0 has been around for a number of years already. In 2012 this child carrier has received “Babble Favorite Baby Carrier” award from the gear experts.

This is a rather lightweight but fully-featured and comfortable tool, ideal for outdoor activities and around the town use. It is JPMA certified and safe for kids and parents. It fits into an overhead compartment and in a trunk. You will see that it also offers a lot of storage space.

The child seat is with adjustable height, with great padding, and with a five-point adjustable harness for the kid. Being so adjustable it will grow with your child. You can see it in the picture below.

On the front of the pack you have a large storage space with a top zippered entrance and several pockets, see the picture above.

The carrier comes with an adjustable and removable sunshade.

The suspension system

You have a very comfortable system in place, with an adjustable harness to fit any torso length in the range 14 – 18 in (35.5 – 46 cm). You will see in the video below how easy it is fixed to the desired position. This is an elegant and unique system (well, this is so typical for Kelty), so that both parents can use it when they are on the go. The back side is thermal-molded and anatomic, and with a pleasant padding.

The hip belt is pre-curved and very pleasantly padded, and the same is with anatomically contoured shoulder straps. The frame is aluminum and designed to stand up on its own.

Pockets

You have 6 pockets in total. On the hip belt, you have two pockets, one is mesh stretchy for a water bottle and the other is more sturdy, for camera or phone.

One large zippered pocket is on the front, plus a mesh pocket below it, you can see it in the pictures. You also have dual mesh water bottle pockets on both sides.

All these features of the Transit 3 child carrier you can see in this video by Kelty:

Pros & Cons

Here is my summary, not much in cons really:

 Pros    Cons
  • Very good suspension.
  • Durable materials.
  • Lightweight.
  • The price.
  • No rain cover.

Kelty Transit 3.0 is indeed a nice tool. Its weight is well below its competitors and the same holds for the price. It has received very good reviews from Amazon customers and the average rate is very high 4.5/5.

It does not have a rain cover but the same holds for its competitors.

  • a great product,

So what more to expect? I like this small and compact tool, and I can fully recommend it.
