Gregory Whitney 95 Review – A Top Quality Expedition Backpack

Gregory Whitney 95 pack.
Gregory Whitney 95 pack.

This Gregory Whitney 95 review is about an internal-frame backpack which offers ultra durability and load support for the most challenging expeditions and extended backpacking tours. You will be able to comfortably carry loads of up to 70 lbs (31.7 kg).

  • The best place regarding the price and shipping conditions is usually Amazon.com.

The pack features  Gregory’s custom fit suspension (CFS). It contains dual aluminum stays bolstered by yet another supportive cross stay. You will be able to see the internal frame structure in the video below after 20 seconds.

The frame is lightweight but durable. The accompanying back panel is comfortable and with air circulation channel.

Two shoulder straps are pre-curved and made of dual-density foam. The waist strap is removable so that you can choose the size that fits you best. It has pockets on both sides to keep you organized.

The floating lid on the top compartment is removable and can be used as a lumbar pack, and it contains a zippered pocket. The top compartment ends with and expandable spindrift collar, giving you a lot of extra volume.

The main access to the top compartment is from the top, and from the front through a zippered opening. It can be accessed also through the bottom compartment. To do this you will unhook the divider between them.

Sizable pockets are on both sides of the pack and inside of the pockets you have mesh container and in addition, you have a zippered mesh which allows you additional access to the main compartment through both side pockets.

On the front of the pack you have a big zippered pocket, with an extra internal mesh pocket. Attachment points for trekking poles, ice axe, and similar items are on both sides of the pack. Storage compartments on the sides can be unzipped and used for water bottles.

Whitney 95 is hydration compatible, and it has an integrated sleeve.

My general feeling about this great pack:

I really like your layout of the site. The mountains remind me of driving from Alberta back into BC. You just get this warm, welcoming feeling, you know that good to be home type feeling? The article on the back pack if nicely done. The pack itself looks like it has ample room to carry all your necessary equipment. The videos that you have incorporated are also very informative and give you the perspective of someone who is wearing it.
    Thanks from BC, Canada

I really want to go travelling, and some of the places that I want to visit have sights to see which will involve climbing and a lot of walking. I am not the most easy person to organize travelling light, so if I can have a backpack that can comfortably carry more than others, I will be able to take more of the essentials that I want. Thanks for sharing this article with me!

The Gregory backpack…. awesome! I am no hiker or mountainman, but I can see this backpack serving purpose in my life, it will help me conquer visiting the in-laws for the holidays. Looks like u can stuff quite a bit into it, is the entire bag waterproof? It looks rugged as well. What kind of material is it made of exactly.

Hi Christian, thank you for the comment. Normally these packs are not waterproof, so if you read somewhere that they are do not take this seriously. The best brands on the market are not waterproof but they come with a rain cover integrated or you can order it separately, this all depends on the brand and the model. As for materials, synthetic of course, more or less durable, dependent on the brand.
