SL in the name means slim version or short length appropriate for women or for males with a shorter back. This implies smaller buckles and soft edges to the straps. The belt is of a conical shape, which is achieved by angling the belt diagonally upwards and by curving the waist belt wings. Shoulder straps are both narrower and shorter in length, as appropriate for a female body.
Cruise 28 SL pack has Alpine suspension system. This means the torso length is fixed. The system includes an X-frame with curved profile aluminum stays. This provides exceptional flexibility and weight carrying ability.
Flexible, tensioned Delrin® U-shaped frame provides stability and effective load transfer with little extra weight.
On the back, you will have two vertical padded foam stripes that provide carrying stability and comfort with a chimney channel for ventilation between the stripes. The back is covered by a breathable and very durable 3D AirMesh. It comes with a removable insulating sitting mat which stabilizes the back.
You have a rear zippered U-shaped access to the main compartment, immediately behind the back panel. This feature is added to allow you access without putting the suspension system into the snow.
Shoulder straps are contoured, comfortable 3D Air-Mesh lined. Load adjustment straps on the shoulder straps and hip fins serve to fine-tune the load according to the terrain: loose mean more ventilation and mobility; tight means more control and a more compact fit. The sternum strap is with a safety whistle.
Te hip belt is anatomic, made of bi-laminate foam for comfort, flexibility, and weight transfer. The pivoting Vari Flex hip fins follow complex body movements. The load is evenly distributed to the hips, providing freedom of movement and reducing fatigue.
Note that the Vari Flex hip fins are removable; this is done for situations when you use a climbing harness, to allow an easy access to the tools attached to it.
The pack has a lid on the top, with an outside zippered pocket, and another zippered pocket beneath it with the access from inside.
One large zippered pocket (safety compartment for shovel and other stuff) is on the front of the pack. Tow stretch pockets are on the sides. One pocket is on one side of the hip belt, and on the other side there is an attachment loop for carabiners.
Compression straps from both sides can be reversed and connected on the front of the pack, this is used to attach and fix snowboard or snowshoes, see this in the picture above.
Attachment loops are on the bottom and on the upper part of the front, for trekking poles and ice axe.
The pack is hydration compatible and the water sleeve is inside the main compartment.
