What is in the name
This tent is a part of the Chinook series that also includes a 6-person tent, and in both sizes you can choose between aluminum poles version and fiberglass poles version, so 4 tents are right now on the market.
As for the word Plus, this is a 2-room tent that offers lots of space for 4 people, much more than what you can see in its competitors, so if needed it can accommodate at least one person more, see below the floor plan and the dimensions.
This is a quite unique double dome structure so my guess is that this is behind the words Twin Peaks in the name, see the picture. They call this the Interdome design.
The tent looks very different with the fly which covers both domes and goes all the way to the ground. So you have full protection from elements.
This is a 2-room tent with an inner area and a front room which may transform in a screen room when you roll the fly. This is a unique and very functional design because of the following:
- The front dome area is a mesh on the three sides, but with the fly it is completely covered and protected.
- There are zippers on the two sides of the fly. They can be rolled to the sides and this gives you two huge windows on the screen room. The front door can also be rolled up so the front room gives views on the three sides.
- The floor in the front room is removable. You have buckles in all corners so you can use it and have a floored front room, but you can also roll it partly or fully when you want. This may be the case when you cook there and do not want to take care of the floor, or you have some camping chairs inside and do not wish to damage the floor.
What is included
This is what you get in the package:
- Twin Peaks Guide 4 tent body.
- The fly.
- Clip In/Out front room floor.
- 4 poles for the domes.
- 1 ridge pole.
- Tent pegs set.
- 3 stuff sacks.
Who is it for
Size-wise, the tent’s declared capacity is 4 people plus. When you see the numbers you realize that this is justified and realistic. The total inner area is 100.1 ft² (9.3 m²), and this means 25 ft² (2.3 m²) per person. There are also two very small vestibules but here you can put only your boots and shoes. See the floor plan and the dimensions:
Weight-wise, the tent is heavy with its 22 lb 1 oz (10.3 kg) and this is why I have included it in my list of tents for car camping. Note that the packed size 22 x 10.6 x 10.2 inches (56 x 27 x 26 cm) is such that you can transport it even on a motorbike.
Seasons-wise & climate-wise, in view of its full fly and great waterproof rating, the tent offers full protection from the rain. The front room is all in mesh and there is enough of it also on the inner tent, so the tent should work well in any climate.
Strictly speaking this is not a winter tent but it is aerodynamic and stable with several intersection points of its poles, and it can withstand a lot of pressure from any side. For winter tents, please check this list. The inner room is with the mesh only on the top and it gives a bit more protection from the cold than the usual 3-season tent. Note however that it is quite tall, 72 inches (183 cm), so not the best option in the areas with very strong winds.
Materials & construction
The version presented here is with aluminum poles. There are 4 poles for the two domes plus one ridge pole. The attachment to the tent is with clips and sleeves. There are 4 intersection points and this makes the domes very stable.
The huge fly is polyester with minimum 2000 mm PU waterproof rating. They also claim that it has a treatment for protection against damaging UV rays. There is no denier value provided for the fabric.
The floor is bathtub style and this is a heavy-duty oxford nylon with the same PU coating and waterproofness. The removable floor in the screened room is a durable polyethylene. The inner room is with several sections with no-see-um mesh for ventilation and protection from insects.
The doors & windows
Each of the two domes has an entry and there is yet another large D-shaped inner door. The doors are double layer type with panel and mesh. The height is appropriate for the tent’s height so you have an almost walk-in height.
The vestibules are minimal but here you have doors too, with parallel zippers so that you can create awnings. This adds lots of livability and you can sit in the shade and cook as well. If you do not need them, you can roll them up above the entrances.
The fly on the front dome is with zippers and as mentioned above, you can create huge side windows. The tent is with durable #10 nylon coil zippers on the doors and #8 on the windows.
- You have included tent pegs, guy lines and storage sacks for tent, pegs, and poles.
- Gear loft is included for extra storage space.
- Double-stitched and nylon tape-reinforced seams.
- Heavy-duty guy points.
Good and less good features & rating
Here is my short summary:
- 2 rooms.
- Tall tent.
- Good waterproof rating.
- Good packed size.
The price & rating
This is an expensive tent, currently available on Amazon-US for $460. I am sure it is worth the investment, but if you cannot afford it you will see some alternatives below. On the EU market it is far more expensive, right now it is on Amazon-Fr with 1177 Euro price. Note also that the version with fiberglass poles is more affordable but still expensive.
Please see how I rate this tent using the same criteria applied to all other tents here in the site. This allows you yo make an easy comparison.

Chinook Twin Peaks Guide 4-Person Plus Tent vs Competitors
You might want to see how this tent compares with some other 4-person tents with two rooms. So I have decided to show you the Coleman Carlsbad 4 which is also a dome style tent and the Vango Beta 450 XL which is a tunnel tent. There are big differences in the weight, price, and comfort. Note that Carlsbad’s screen room does not provide a full protection from elements. Please follow the links for more.

The Chinook Twin Peaks Guide 4-Person Plus Aluminum Pole Tent is a great and functional design, a very reliable car camping option with lots of room for 4 campers. I have included this tent in my list of best 4-person tents for car camping. But this all comes at a price, so if this version is too expensive, please check the version with fiberglass poles.
