In this review, I present Asolo TPS 520 GV hiking boots for men, a heavy duty tool which will protect your feet regardless of the type of terrain. These boots are all leather type waterproof and breathable, with minimum seams, durable and reliable, suitable for the most challenging trips. There exists a version for women with exactly the same features.

Construction and materials
The upper part of the boot is a water-resistant full-grain leather of the best quality. Inside you have a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex layer which will definitely keep your foot dry from outside elements, and nylon linings which will wick moisture inside the boot.
Gusseted and nicely padded tongue keeps trail debris out and allows you to pass water streams safely. In total 8 nicely designed, metal eyelets are here for lacing.
These boots are the over-the-ankle type, with a pleasantly padded collar which gives an excellent stability and security on rough terrains.
Here you have Asolo’s TPS system, and these letters stand for Triple Power Structure. Now you understand the origin of the letters TPS in the name of these boots.
This is a structure developed with Vibram, and it includes three individually colored cylindrical shock absorbers, positioned in the sections of the bottom that receive the highest impact.
They are made of two polyurethane layers of very different densities. Their function is to improve stability and comfort.
One of the cylinders in the heel area absorbs shocks after the first impact of the foot with the ground. The second cylinder in the heel provides an additional stability. The third cylinder is in the metatarsal area, you can see them in the picture above.
The sole has three separate layers shown in the picture on the right, from top to bottom:
- High-density PU midsole.
- Low-density PU element.
- Asolo/Vibram rubber outsole. This is dual density rubber with the heel which you may see in the pictures.
