What this OneTigris Cosmitto 2 Tent is about
When you think about an aluminum pole tent that also has top quality YKK zippers, I guess you would expect a really expensive outdoor shelter. But here you have all this and at an incredible price. So this is a very typical dome-shaped tent, and you realize this when you see it without the fly as in the picture below.
You have an inner tent with two doors, and it is quite a low profile with a 3.6 ft (1.1 m) peak height. But this is a tent with a full-coverage fly that creates two vestibules. The aerial view below show that it looks like a hexagon with the fly on.
Materials
The poles & stakes: You have 2 main poles, plus a short ridge pole that pulls the side walls up and make almost vertical, adding lots of volume and head space. There are small sleeves on the inner tent where you put the ends of this cross pole.
The material used for the poles is a 7001 aluminum alloy. The two main poles attach to the tent’s base through grommets in the corners, and higher you have clips.
The tent comes with a full set of 10 good quality Y-shaped aluminum stakes. They are of general purpose and work well in every ground. You also have 4 guylines that are 9.8 ft (3 m) long.
The fabric: The fabric includes several different types. They use 20D Plaid Ripstop polyester for the tent fly and 70D nylon for the bathtub floor, plus a 40D nylon mesh on the canopy.
The official waterproof rating for the fly is 1500 mm. I am not sure if the same value applies to the floor. All seams are taped. As mentioned, you have high quality YKK zippers shown below.
The fly attaches to the tent’s base at the corners with buckles, one is shown below.
Unique details
- The tent has unique tensioners outside of the corners’ area. One is visible in the picture above, this is the cord behind the buckle on the right. The purpose of this is to pull the walls in the lower section so that you have extra volume to avoid touching the tent canopy by the sleeping bag in this area that is normally low in such dome tents.
- Deep under the roof vents you will see storm flaps to prevent water from getting in.
Ventilation
The inner canopy is almost completely mesh so vapor can escape in all directions. The fly is massive but you can still regulate inflow of the air underneath it and through the tent. They have added two vents on the roof, so all is done as it should be in this respect.
Other features
- It has huge wall mesh pockets on both ends so you can keep all your small items off the ground.
- There is also a lantern attachment loop in the middle of the ceiling.
Who is it for
Regarding seasons & climate, this is a tent with mesh canopy and a full coverage fly. So I would not use it in a cold environment, and this is why I see it as best suited for the warmer part of a year, say for two seasons maximum.
The official waterproof rating is good, but many people have reported leaks of this tent. They seem to come from the area where vents are located. This is not through the vents but through the seams in that part of the fly. This is why they have added this on their site:
It is not clear to me if they are going to do something about this, but there is also a warning on Amazon where they write there that it is not for rainstorm weather.
On the other hand, this is an aerodynamic and low profile tent with quality poles, stakes, and zippers. So there is no doubt it is a great option for windy and dry places.
Regarding the size, they write it is “suitable for backpackers, everyday campers and families looking for easy setup tents”. Now, this tent is definitely not for families, and its setup is neither easy nor difficult, it is quite typical for a dome tent. You need 10 – 15 minutes for the job.
See below about the weight regarding the statement about backpacking use. In any case, the tent offers 31 ft² (2.9 m²) so this would give 15.5 ft² (1.45 m²) per person.
There are two symmetric vestibules, but they do not provide information about their size. My rough estimate is that they together provide around 15 ft² (1.4 m²). So all in all this is enough space for two users.
Regarding the weight, the tent weighs 5.4 lb (2.45 kg) so it can be described as light but this is not a backpacking tent. You can compare this with the tents in my list of best lightweight 2 person backpacking tents.
The packed size (L x D) 23.6 x 6.3 inches (50 x 16 cm) is really good. So this is a backpack-portable and compact tent, but in my view it is best suited for people on bicycle or motorbike tours.
Regarding the price, it is simply incredible for a tent with aluminum poles and such YKK zippers.

Final thoughts & rating
So this OneTigris Cosmitto 2 Person Backpacking Tent includes some really great materials and a couple of unique features. It is ventilated and functional with its two doors and two vestibules, and it simply looks good.
However, bear in mind reports of leaks. It does not mean that you will have the same issue, but if this happens perhaps you can do some sealing in the critical area which is around vents. The tent is worth such an effort, its price is truly incredible in view of such a collection of quality materials.
Below you can see how I rate this tent, the same criteria are used for all of them so you can easily compare:
